Highlighting the achievements and promoting the dignity of people with disabilities!

Public Awareness

The Public Awareness Committee, (PAC), is the avenue through which those whom we seek to campaign for, acquire opportunities to discuss provisions and air problems with those in positions of responsibility as service providers in creating an environment which is accessible for everyone within the community.

For the last number of years the William Keown Trust has organised public awareness meetings throughout Northern Ireland. The purpose of these meetings is to offer the opportunity for both the ‘providers’ and ‘users’ of the various services to come together with a view to complementing and improving them and to focus appraisal on issues relating to disability access within the built and open environments.

These meetings are generally held twice yearly, in the spring and in the autumn in local council offices throughout Northern Ireland.

Public AwarenessAt previous meetings representatives attending were focused on the need for a more ‘user friendly’ environment for everyone. This unique opportunity of service provider and user meeting together is both educational and constructive and leads to a clearer understanding on barrier-free access.

If you wish to receive a copy of the Minutes of the latest Public Awareness Meeting or receive an invitation to our next meeting which will be held in Craigavon on Tuesday 9th May please telephone Trust headquarters on 028 437 51243 or fill in the details on our feedback page.
